An interdisciplinary team of faculty will be responsible for the implementation of SOAR-TPD.

CHRIS CLEMONS, PH.D.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Chris Clemons, Ph.D. is the Team Principal Investigator. He taught secondary agriscience education for five years; served as school principal for seven years; was an instructor at Southern Illinois University; and now an assistant professor at Auburn University. He was named the 2016 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Outstanding Faculty Member and the 2016 Elkins Excellence in Teaching Award. In his role as assistant professor at Auburn University he is responsible for the undergraduate agriscience education teacher preparation and certification program. He is also responsible for coordination of secondary teacher professional development. He has over 15 years’ experience developing and leading professional development opportunities to secondary teachers. Clemons will provide overall leadership for the project and all project activities as well as help develop and teach trainings.

THORSTEN KNAPPENBERGER, PH.D.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Thorsten Knappenberger, Ph.D. is assistant professor for soil physics in the Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences at Auburn University and co-PI. He will serve as subject matter expert in soil sciences and will help develop and teach trainings. He is a member of the American Geophysical Union and a member of Soil Science Society of America. His research focuses on land uses in a variety of settings (agriculture, urban, and natural). He teaches courses in environmental soil physics, stream restoration, and transport of chemicals in soils

JAMES LINDNER, PH.D.

PROFESSOR

James Lindner, Ph.D. is professor of Agriscience Education at Auburn University and co-PI. With over 25 years as a professional educator he is the program leader for Auburn University’s Agriscience Education program. He has garnered numerous awards for his teaching and research, which focuses on advancing the theory of planning and needs assessment. He has been a lead instructor for the Training and Development Profession Certification Program. Lindner will serve as project evaluator and will be responsible for Professional Development (PD) logistics and recruiting. He will also help develop and teach trainings.
